Burritt's Rapids Lockstation is a Rideau Canal National Historic Site that is a popular site for visitors and is just a short walk down the road from our Rideau Rapids Lodge.

Burritt's Rapids Tip to Tip Trail - 1 km

Burritt's Rapids Tip to Tip Trail is an easy walk with a round trip length of four kilometres, taking about one hour to complete. Numbered trail markers along the path highlight features along the trail that were either influenced by or important in the construction of the Rideau Canal.

Explore Merrickville - 11.9 km

Having officially been dubbed Canada's Most Beautiful Village by Communities in Bloom, and with more designated heritage buildings than any other Ontario town, Merrickville is a place to explore. It is a community where you can enjoy its heritage, natural attractions, delightful restaurants and shops, its small-town hospitality and its all round, year-round enchantment.

Baxter Beach and The Ice Cream Float - 22.3 km

Located just south of Kars on the shores of the Rideau River, this popular park offers 5 kilometres of scenic trails, a beautiful public beach, picnic areas, an education pond and the unique Filmore Park Nut Grove. Many of Baxter’s amenities are accessible for all mobility levels, including the boardwalk, bridge and beach. Be sure to bring some money for the Ice Cream Float serving scoops of joy!

Ice Skating Ottawa Rideau Canal Skateway - 64.6 km

Ottawa is home to the largest natural ice rink in the world, as designated by the Guinness World Records. Each year, from January to February, the picturesque Rideau Canal, the only World Heritage Site by UNESCO in Ontario, freezes and welcomes thousands of visitors for winter fun. People come from all over the world to glide along the Rideau Canal Skateway to 7.8 kilometers (4.8 miles), stretching from the heart downtown Ottawa to Dows Lake, the largest surface.
